Privacy Policy

Introduction

Sova (“we”, “us”, “our” or “Developer”) is a math puzzle game for children aged 6 to 8, published in the App Store’s Kids Category. It is built so that a child’s information stays on the family’s own device: there are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we do not run any server that receives your child’s data. This policy explains what the app keeps on the device, the one third-party service involved in purchases (RevenueCat), and the rights you have as a parent or guardian.

It applies to the Sova app for iPhone and iPad (the “Application”).

1. Information the Application Keeps on the Device

All of the following is stored only on the device where Sova is installed, inside the app’s sandbox. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.

  • Child profiles: up to 4 profiles, each with a first name (or nickname) and a chosen animal picture. A grown-up enters them during setup, and they are used only to greet the child and keep each child’s progress apart. A nickname works just as well. Profiles exist only on the device.
  • Game progress: points, levels per game, streaks, Daily Challenge results and a record of answered puzzles (game, level, whether the answer was right, time taken). It powers the levels in each game and the Parent Dashboard.
  • Parent PIN: stored on the device only as a one-way salted hash, never as the digits themselves. It keeps the Parent Dashboard and its settings away from the child.
  • Settings: the chosen app language, whether onboarding is finished, read-aloud and similar preferences, and a cached “Math Expert unlocked” flag so paid games keep working offline.

Read-aloud uses Apple’s built-in speech synthesis on the device. The text being read is not sent anywhere by Sova.

Device backups: if iCloud Backup or a computer backup is turned on for the device, iOS or iPadOS may include the app’s data in that backup. This is controlled by the device settings, not by us.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

  • No user accounts, email addresses, phone numbers, photos, contacts, location or microphone input.
  • No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no tracking across apps or websites.
  • No analytics, usage statistics or crash reporting services in the app.
  • No chat, social features or user-generated content shared with others.
  • No server of ours receives your child’s name, progress or anything else.

3. Purchases (RevenueCat)

Sova offers an optional upgrade, Math Expert, as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Purchases are made through Apple’s App Store with your Apple Account, and only after a grown-up passes a parental gate in the app. Ask to Buy and Family Sharing are supported as Apple provides them.

To check whether Math Expert is unlocked, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.), a purchase-verification service. The RevenueCat software in the app:

  • assigns a random, anonymous app user ID (not linked to the child’s name or to any account of ours);
  • processes the App Store purchase and transaction information needed to confirm the entitlement;
  • is configured with automatic device-identifier collection turned off, and receives no advertising identifier, name or email address from Sova.

RevenueCat handles this information under its own Privacy Policy. Apple handles payments under the Apple Media Services terms and Apple’s Privacy Policy. We do not receive your payment details.

4. How Information Is Used

The information above is used only to run the game on the device (levels, points, the Daily Challenge, greeting the child), to show progress to the grown-up in the Parent Dashboard, to keep the Parent Dashboard behind the PIN, and to unlock Math Expert after a purchase.

5. Sharing

We do not sell, rent, share or trade any information. The only party outside the device involved in using Sova is RevenueCat (and Apple) for purchases, as described in Section 3. We would disclose information only if required by law, and we hold no copy of your child’s data to disclose.

6. Children’s Privacy (COPPA, GDPR-K)

Sova is directed to children. We designed it to collect no personal information from children on our side:

  • A parent or guardian sets the app up and gives consent in the app during onboarding, before the child’s name is entered. The same grown-up creates the parent PIN.
  • Purchases, restoring purchases and every link that leaves the app (such as this policy, the Terms and Conditions and support email) are behind a parental gate that a young child cannot pass.
  • There are no ads, no behavioral advertising and no third-party analytics, as required for the App Store Kids Category.

Under the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation’s rules for children’s data (GDPR Article 8, “GDPR-K”), a parent or guardian may review or delete their child’s information at any time. Because everything is stored only on the device, you can do this directly:

  • Review: open the Parent Dashboard (behind your PIN).
  • Erase: in the Parent Dashboard (behind your PIN) you can erase one child’s profile and progress, or erase all data in the app. You can also delete the Sova app from the device, which removes all of its data. If you wish, remove it from any device backup too.

If you believe a child’s information has reached us in some other way, contact us (Section 10) and we will delete it.

7. Data Retention

Everything in Section 1 stays on the device until you erase it in the Parent Dashboard (one child or all data) or delete the app. RevenueCat keeps purchase records under its own retention policy.

8. Security

The app’s data is protected by the device’s app sandbox and data protection, and the parent PIN is stored only as a hash. No technology is risk-free: please keep your device protected with a passcode and your Apple Account secure.

9. Your Rights

  • EU and EEA (GDPR): you have the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. Because we process no personal data ourselves, these rights mostly concern the data on your device (which you control directly) and RevenueCat’s purchase records. You may also complain to a data protection authority; the Developer is based in Poland, so the lead authority is the Urząd Ochrony Danych Osobowych (UODO), uodo.gov.pl.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know and to delete. We do not sell or share personal information.
