Introduction

Notelo (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “Company”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the “Application”) and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

Notes and Audio Content: When you create notes, record audio, and transcribe content within Notelo, this information is stored on your device and optionally synchronized to our secure backend infrastructure.

User Account Information: If you create an account, we collect information such as your email address and any profile information you choose to provide.

Communication Information: When you contact us for support or feedback, we collect the content of your communications, email address, and any additional information you provide.

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

Device Information: We collect technical information about your device, including device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.

Usage Data: We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Application, including features used, actions taken, and timestamps.

Crash and Performance Data: We collect information about application crashes, errors, and performance metrics to improve Service stability and functionality.


2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Providing Services: To deliver, maintain, and improve the Notelo Application and its features

  • Transcription: Your audio is processed using Apple’s native on-device transcription technology; no audio files are sent to external servers for this purpose

  • AI Summaries: To generate AI-powered summaries of your notes, we send text content (not audio) to OpenRouter API. This data is processed by third-party AI models according to OpenRouter’s privacy practices

  • Account Management: To manage your account, authentication, and provide customer support

  • Analytics and Improvement: To analyze usage patterns, troubleshoot issues, and develop new features

  • Security: To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, and security incidents

  • Communication: To send you service-related announcements and respond to your inquiries


3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 Third-Party Service Providers

OpenRouter API: We share note content with OpenRouter (https://openrouter.ai/) to generate AI summaries. This is governed by OpenRouter’s privacy policy. We do not share audio files with OpenRouter.

Cloud Storage Providers: If you enable cloud synchronization, your encrypted data is stored with secure cloud infrastructure providers. We only share encrypted data that cannot be read by these providers.

Analytics Providers: We may use analytics services to understand how users interact with our Application.

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., court orders, law enforcement requests).

3.3 Business Transfers

If Notelo is involved in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or other business transaction, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or control of your personal information.


4. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

  • End-to-end encryption for cloud synchronization
  • Secure authentication mechanisms
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Compliance with industry security standards

However, no security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.


5. Data Retention

  • Notes and Audio: Content stored on your device remains under your control. Cloud-synchronized data is retained until you delete it or your account is terminated

  • Usage Data: We retain analytics and usage data for up to 12 months

  • Account Information: We retain your account information for as long as your account is active, or as required by law

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email address below.


6. Your Privacy Rights

6.1 Access and Portability

You have the right to access your personal information and receive a copy of the data we hold about you in a structured, commonly used format.

6.2 Correction and Deletion

You have the right to correct inaccurate personal information and request deletion of your data, subject to certain legal exceptions.

6.3 Opt-Out Rights

You may disable certain data collection features through your device settings or Application settings. Note that disabling some features may limit Application functionality.

6.4 GDPR and CCPA Rights

For EU Residents (GDPR): You have additional rights including the right to restrict processing, object to processing, and lodge complaints with your local data protection authority.

For California Residents (CCPA): You have rights to know what personal information is collected, delete personal information, and opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information.


7. Children’s Privacy

Notelo is not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information and terminate the child’s account.


8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including countries that may not have the same data protection laws. By using Notelo, you consent to such transfers.


Notelo may contain links to third-party websites and services that are not operated by us. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party services, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing personal information.


10. California Privacy Rights

California residents have specific privacy rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We do not sell your personal information. For questions about your California privacy rights, please contact us using the information below.


11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the Application and updating the “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of Notelo after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
